Welcome to the Team Home Page of 'Save The Blouse Bunnies!'

WALKING AGAIN! Over three days this October, we will be walking 60 miles in the Atlanta Breast Cancer 3-Day. This walk will be much more than “just a walk” – it will be raising money to support the Breast Cancer 3-Days benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure to fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs, as well as the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, to provide an endowment for breast cancer initiatives.

Our personal challenge began in February. It will culminate when we and thousands of other individuals take those final steps into Atlanta for the Closing Ceremonies. Over the next few months, we will be spending many, many, many hours in training (By the time the walk starts, we will have logged enough miles to take us from Atlanta to San Antonio!) and helping to spread the word about breast cancer awareness. As we prepare for this challenge, walking mile after mile, we think of those who have traveled the path before us, those who are traveling the path with us and those who are yet to follow. There are times when we don’t feel like training or our feet hurt or we're just tired. Then we think of all the people that we care about who have been touched by breast cancer. We walk for them. We walk for our friends, wives, grandmothers, mothers, aunts, cousins and sisters. We walk for our beautiful daughters. We walk for the men in our lives and with the men in our lives!

Unfortunately, breast cancer has become an all too common occurrence among women and men throughout the world. In 2007, according to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, more than 200,000 women and 1,700 men in the United States were diagnosed with breast cancer. About 40,000 women and 460 men died from the disease. Now is the time to take action to help end this disease. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death for all women, and the leading cause of death in women between the ages of 40 and 55. Both its cause and the means for its cure remain undiscovered. Currently, one million women in the U.S. have the disease and probably won’t know about their potentially fatal illness for another five to eight years. Breast cancer has challenged 2 million survivors in the U.S. Increased awareness means more survivors. We're taking on this challenge to do something big that will help raise awareness and help in finding a cure.
